  1. The Chrysalis Stage

    Soar on the wings you were destined to fly with.

    A tiny caterpillar chews, pushes and finally struggles free from its egg and begins to immediately eat the leaf it hatched upon. Its only purpose is to eat and grow and eat and grow. Many times during this process, the caterpillar will shed its skin until, one day, it stops eating and growing.

    All the food the caterpillar has eaten is stored for when it becomes its destined shape—a butterfly.

    Finding another branch, the caterpillar forms its cocoon, in the butterfly world, this is actually called a chrysalis. During the transformation stage, it may look like nothing is going on, but big changes are happening inside.

    Ten days later, the ugly caterpillar is converted or changed into a beautiful butterfly. It becomes a brand new creature. Again, it must push and struggle and squeeze its way out of the protective covering. Without this struggle, the wings will not develop properly and the butterfly will be unable to fly. Then it takes flight. It is an amazing change.

    Although the creature was destined from birth to become a butterfly, it didn’t look it. It resembled a hairy worm. It crawled upon the ground. In order to reach its potential beauty, it had to go through a transformation.

    In the natural, it appears impossible for a caterpillar to have wings. But God is a God of supernatural, of surprising change, of always developing and changing things. Don’t let incidents, circumstances or people define who you are. You may not look like much now, but by the time God gets through with you, you won’t look like that hairy worm crawling upon the ground any longer. You will be His miracle in flight.

    Change starts to take place in a person's life when they ask Jesus into their heart and have a willingness to surrender to Him so you can release and work on your issues. Only then will you begin the chrysalis stage that happens on the inside. While wrapped in God’s love and protection, He begins to change you. You build your relationship with Him and devour His word. This takes time. Through your struggles, you, too, will learn to fly.

    Just as the caterpillar shed its skin in growth, shed your past and prepare for a new beginning. Take flight, butterfly!

    But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength;
    they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
    they shall run and not be weary,
    they shall walk and not faint.

    Isaiah 40:3
